Mosul Heritage Houses Festival in Mosul
Rather than one fixed event, Mosul's restored heritage courtyard houses, rehabilitated under UNESCO's Revive the Spirit of Mosul program, which restored 124 historic homes, function as ongoing venues for festivals, exhibitions, and performances, including a documented Mosul Heritage Day Festival staged by the city's College of Fine Arts.
UNESCO's Revive the Spirit of Mosul initiative, launched in 2018, restored 124 historic courtyard houses in Mosul's Old City using traditional techniques and materials, with support from the European Union, enabling roughly 170 families to return to homes they had fled during the 2014-2017 ISIS occupation and the military campaign that ended it.
