Cooish Vooar Manx Language Festival in Douglas/Islandwide
Cooish is Culture Vannin's autumn Manx-language festival, descended from the Feailley Ghaelgagh founded in the mid-1990s, mixing beginner-friendly language sessions with talks aimed at fluent speakers. Vooar, meaning big, marks an expanded edition with a fuller week of concerts, lectures and community events across island venues, closing with a headline concert at the Gaiety Theatre in Douglas.
Culture Vannin and the Jeebin Manx Language Network organise Cooish each autumn as the island's flagship Manx-language festival, a role traceable back to the Feailley Ghaelgagh, the original Manx Language Festival that Phil Gawne set up in the mid-1990s after visiting Scottish Gaelic development projects in Inverness and on Skye.
