Yn Chruinnaght Celtic Gathering in Peel/Douglas
Yn Chruinnaght began in 1924 as a Manx national gathering focused on reviving Manx Gaelic language and music, later expanding into a festival celebrating the Isle of Man's cultural ties with Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, and Brittany. Held mainly in Peel each July with events also in Douglas and St Johns, six days combine concerts, ceilidhs, language workshops, and a craft fair.
Yn Chruinnaght traces its roots to 1924, when it began as Cruinnaght Vanninagh Ashoonagh, a Manx national gathering built around preserving Manx Gaelic language and traditional music at a time when both were in serious decline on the island.
