Manofim Jerusalem Contemporary Art Festival in Jerusalem

Founded and still run by Jerusalem artists Lee He Shulov and Rinat Edelstein, Manofim is the city's largest annual contemporary art festival, opening more than thirty galleries, cultural centers and hundreds of independent artist studios to the public across roughly five days each July. It functions as the kickoff event of Jerusalem's exhibition season and centers on public access to working studios as much as finished gallery shows.

Jerusalem-based artists Lee He Shulov and Rinat Edelstein founded Manofim and still manage the festival today, giving it a name built on a Hebrew pun: manofim means cranes, the construction kind, echoing the phrase ma hanofim, meaning what are the views, a play the founders use to describe the festival's aim of lifting up Jerusalem's art field so its wider view becomes visible.
