The Israeli Opera stages full-scale outdoor opera productions on a purpose-built stage beneath the cliffs of Masada overlooking the Dead Sea, having relocated its open-air festival there after previously staging similar events at Caesarea. Past productions include Nabucco, Aida, Carmen, La Traviata, Tosca and Carmina Burana, each performed with full orchestra and chorus against the ancient fortress backdrop.
