One of the world's largest religious festivals, Catania's Feast of Saint Agatha runs February 3 through 5, when devotees in white sacco robes pull a silver reliquary bust, cast in 1376, through the streets on a massive processional float alongside sixteen gilded candelore representing the city's medieval guilds.
A silver bust reliquary cast in 1376 by the goldsmith Giovanni di Bartolo still carries relics of Catania's patron saint through the city each year, mounted on a fercolo, a massive processional float reported to weigh around twenty tons, pulled through the streets by devotees dressed in white sack-like robes called sacco.
