Fano's Carnival traces documented roots to a 1347 municipal expense record, making it Italy's oldest continuously celebrated Carnival by common claim. Its signature tradition, the getto, showers crowds with real candy and chocolate from towering papier-mache floats during the three Sundays before Lent, accompanied by the discordant musica arabita band.
