Sorgono, capital of Sardinia's Mandrolisai district, opens Carnival with a Sant'Antonio Abate bonfire, then stages Sa Tuvera, a mask parade along Corso IV Novembre led by the town's own mask, Is Arestes, joined by guest masks from Austis, Tiana and Ardauli.

Sorgono, the historic capital of Sardinia's Mandrolisai district in inland Barbagia, opens its Carnival season with a bonfire lit in honor of Sant'Antonio Abate, the saint linked in Sardinian folk religion to fire and to animals.
