GATFFEST Film Festival in Kingston

GATFFEST began as the Greater August Town Film Project in the Kingston community neighboring the University of the West Indies, growing into a fourteen-plus-year platform for emerging Jamaican, Caribbean and international filmmakers. It combines film screenings with cultural-exchange programming, rooted in grassroots access for filmmakers from August Town and similar communities.

GATFFEST takes its name from August Town, the University of the West Indies-adjacent Kingston community where the festival began as an offshoot of the Greater August Town Film Project, later folded into what UWI now calls its Community Film Project.
