The story

Negril Dream Weekend in Montego Bay

Since consolidating in 2012 from several competing promoters into one brand, Dream Weekend has turned Negril's Seven Mile Beach into a week-long run of themed parties, boat cruises and beach concerts every Emancipation and Independence holiday period, drawing Jamaican diaspora and international visitors, with the event's footprint recently expanding to include staging in Montego Bay.

Negril's Seven Mile Beach became the shared stage for Jamaica's biggest party festival in 2012, when several previously separate promoters, each running their own event during the same Emancipation and Independence holiday stretch, merged their shows under one Dream Weekend banner timed to the country's fiftieth anniversary of independence.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What distinguishes Dream Weekend among Jamaica's dancehall-tourism festivals is its origin as a merger of several rival promoters' individual events rather than a single founder's creation, and its deliberate timing around Jamaica's own Emancipation and Independence holidays rather than an unrelated calendar slot

02

The mystery stays covered

Its week-long, multi-venue format, spanning themed parties, cruises and beach concerts, gives it a broader scope than single-day festivals, and its brand has grown enough to expand staging beyond Negril's Seven Mile Beach in recent years
