Narita Gion Matsuri

Narita Gion Matsuri, held for roughly three hundred years around Naritasan Shinshoji Temple, celebrates the summer planting season and seeks blessings from the temple's principal Buddhist image, Dainichi Nyorai. Ten carved dashi floats, including a genuine late-Edo-period antique, parade along the temple's Omotesando approach each early July, accompanied by tekomai dancers and live festival music.
