Greenroom Festival in Yokohama
Greenroom Festival began in Yokohama in 2005, built around surf culture and named for the hollow space inside a breaking wave, framing itself around a Save The Ocean environmental philosophy. Held each spring at the historic Red Brick Warehouse, it combines live music from Japanese and international artists with mural painting and ocean-conservation exhibits, growing into a significant fixture on Japan's festival calendar.
Greenroom Festival began in Yokohama in 2005, conceived from the outset as a music and art event built around surf culture rather than positioned as a conventional rock or pop festival, drawing its inspiration and its name from the film The Greenroom and, more specifically, from surfing terminology describing the hollow, tube-like space formed inside a breaking wave, a space surfers consider almost sacred.
