NAICCON Nairobi Comic Con in Nairobi
East Africa's first comic convention, launched in 2014 by Ann Ndanu and co-founders at the Village Market in Nairobi and now grown into the region's largest such event. Programming spans cosplay competitions, an Artists Alley for local comic creators, gaming tournaments and workshops, with the NAICCON franchise expanding to include a Mombasa Comic Con edition and a dedicated Kids Convention.
NAICCON, short for Nairobi Comic Con, was launched in 2014 by Ann Ndanu and her co-founders as East Africa's very first comic convention, created specifically because its founders felt frustrated by the lack of accessible spaces for local creators and fans of comics and gaming within Kenya's cultural landscape at the time.
