PriFest - Prishtina International Film Festival in Prishtina
PriFest, also known as the Prishtina International Film Festival or PriFilmFest, launched in 2009 as one of the first major cultural projects following Kosovo's declaration of independence, hosted initially by actress Vanessa Redgrave. The festival screens international and regional cinema in Pristina and awards a Golden Goddess statue modeled on a Neolithic artifact found in Kosovo.
PriFest was born out of a specific post-independence moment: after Kosovo declared independence in 2008, organizer Vjosa Berisha designed a project intended to build the country's international image through cinema, submitting a proposal that became PriFilmFest and serving as the festival's artistic director.
