DokuFest in Prizren
DokuFest is an international documentary and short film festival held each early August in Prizren, Kosovo, since 2002. Over eight days, films screen in seven improvised cinemas, including open-air venues around the city, alongside the DokuPhoto exhibition, workshops, and concerts that together draw around 15,000 visitors a year.
In 2002, three years after the end of the Kosovo war, a group of friends in Prizren started a film festival with almost no money and no template to follow, since Kosovo had no comparable event and few institutions willing to back an unproven cultural project in a country still rebuilding from conflict.
