Kuwait Downtown National Celebrations in Safat Square/Al-Mubarakiya
Downtown Kuwait City turns Safat Square and the adjoining Mubarakiya souk into a civic stage each holiday season for National Day and Liberation Day festivities, blending old-town heritage with patriotic performance, folkloric music, flag-themed decoration and extended-hours late-night market trading in one of the capital's oldest surviving commercial quarters, close to spice sellers and gold merchants.
Safat Square sits at the historic center of Kuwait City, a short walk from the covered lanes of Souk Al-Mubarakiya where traders have sold spices, dates and gold for generations.
