Ak Kalpak Day Festival in Bishkek/Multi-city
Marked nationwide every March 5, Ak-Kalpak Day celebrates the tall white felt cap recognized by UNESCO in 2019 as Kyrgyz intangible cultural heritage. Schools, universities, and government offices hold flash mobs and national-dress competitions built around the cap, encouraging Kyrgyz men especially to wear it as everyday dress rather than only for ceremony.
Ak-Kalpak Day, observed nationwide every March 5, celebrates the tall, white felt cap that has become the most recognized single symbol of Kyrgyz national identity, a headwear tradition formally added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2019.
