Kyrgyzstan National Book Fair in Bishkek
An international book exhibition-fair tradition in Bishkek brings publishers and bookstore chains from Russia, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and China together with Kyrgyz readers, organized through the National Library and the Republican Children's Library rather than the Writers' Union that runs the separately branded Book Fest. Programming has included direct book sales, master classes, telescope stargazing, and virtual-reality demonstrations near the Kurmanjan Datka monument.
An international book exhibition-fair tradition runs in Bishkek alongside, and sometimes within the same April World Book Day season as, the separately branded Book Fest, organized through different institutional channels including the National Library named for Alykul Osmonov and the Republican Library for Children and Youth named for Kasymaly Bayalinov, in past editions run in partnership with USAID.
