Luang Prabang Pi Mai Lao in Luang Prabang
Luang Prabang extends Pi Mai into roughly ten days, anchored by an elephant procession from Wat Mai to Wat Xieng Thong on April 13, the Phra Man Buddha's lustral ceremony at Wat Xieng Thong, and the sacred Prabang Buddha image's procession from the National Museum to Wat Mai starting April 17, followed by two days of public water-pouring over the revered image.
Luang Prabang stages the country's most elaborate version of Pi Mai, extending what is a three-day festival elsewhere into a roughly ten-day sequence of ceremonies unique to the former royal capital.
