That Inghang Festival in Savannakhet
The That Ing Hang Festival, held over several days each late November into December at Savannakhet's most sacred stupa, draws pilgrims from across Laos and Thailand for offerings, blessings from resident nuns, and a signature bee-wax candle procession and competition. Beyond religious rites, the event has grown into a showcase of Savannakhet's food, handicrafts, and cultural performances from all fourteen provincial districts.
Pha That Ing Hang, one of the most revered stupas in central Laos, draws pilgrims from across the country and from neighboring Thailand each year for its namesake festival, a multi-day celebration honoring both the Buddha and the builders of the sacred structure itself.
