Latgale Song Festival in Daugavpils/Rezekne
The Latgale Song Festival traces back to the first Latgale Youth Song Festival held in Rēzekne in 1925, though its largest modern editions now take place in Daugavpils. The 2025 centenary marked the 15th festival in the series, held at the Daugavpils Stropi Open-Air Stage on June 1 with more than 3,600 performers across 100 choirs, 10 dance groups, 14 wind orchestras, and 16 accordion ensembles.
Latvia's national Song and Dance Celebration gets the international recognition, inscribed on UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage list, but the Latgale region has its own, older parallel tradition that runs on a different clock entirely.
