Rigas Street Festival Daugavpils in Daugavpils
Despite its name, the Rīgas Street Festival takes place entirely in Daugavpils, staged each autumn along Rīgas Street itself - the city's busiest pedestrian thoroughfare, one of the first streets in Latvia converted to pedestrian-only use in the late 1970s. Running the half-kilometer stretch from the railway station to the Daugava River, the festival fills the street with thematic workshops, travelling exhibitions, light installations, live sculptures, and mimes.
Anyone searching for the 'Rīgas Street Festival' expecting an event in Latvia's capital will end up in the wrong city.
