Morija Arts and Cultural Festival in Morija
Lesotho's premier cultural festival, launched in 1999 in the historic village of Morija to help revive tourism after the unrest of 1998, coordinated by the Morija Museum and Archives around the theme of unity in diversity and featuring choral music, traditional dance, drama, poetry, fashion and food.
The Morija Arts and Cultural Festival began in 1999, launched in the large village of Morija in Lesotho's Maseru District at a moment when the country badly needed a reason to draw visitors back after the political upheaval that followed the contested 1998 elections had damaged both public confidence and the tourism sector.
