Purpurinis Vakaras in Anyksciai
Purpurinis Vakaras has run since 2008 as Lithuania's national festival of bard-style sung poetry, staged over three August days in the natural Dainuvos Valley amphitheater near Anyksciai. The program mixes established and emerging bard performers with midnight poetry readings, film screenings and children's activities. across a three-day program each August.
Purpurinis Vakaras, or Purple Evening, has grown since 2008 into Lithuania's national festival of author song, the bard tradition of poetic, guitar-accompanied singing that developed across the Soviet-era Baltic states and remains a distinct genre in Lithuanian culture.
