Fluxus Festival Kaunas in Kaunas
Fluxus Festival has run in Kaunas since 2018, honoring city-born Fluxus movement founder Jurgis Maciunas with a communal costumed ascent of Parodos Hill starting from Jurgis Maciunas Square. Participation grew past seven thousand five hundred during Kaunas's European Capital of Culture year, turning the climb itself into the event's artwork.
Fluxus Festival in Kaunas has run since 2018 as a tribute to Jurgis Maciunas, known internationally as George Maciunas, the Kaunas-born founder of the Fluxus art movement that emerged in New York in the 1960s alongside collaborators such as Yoko Ono, Nam June Paik and Joseph Beuys and that deliberately blurred the line between everyday life and formal art.
