Schueberfouer in Luxembourg City/Glacis
Schueberfouer is the largest funfair in Luxembourg and in the wider Greater Region, held on the Glacis grounds in Luxembourg City since 1340, when it was founded by John the Blind. Running for roughly twenty days from late August into mid-September, it stretches across 3.5 kilometers of rides, games and stalls and draws close to two million visitors. The signature food is Gromperekichelcher, fried potato pancakes sold throughout the fairground.
Schueberfouer matters because it gives Luxembourg a recurring public ritual of food, play and memory, linking medieval origins to ordinary modern evenings.
