Macao Fireworks Art Contests in Macao Science Center and public venues
Macao International Fireworks Display Contest is a pyrotechnics competition launched in 1989, held each September and October over Nam Van Lake with teams from around the world staging choreographed displays. The 33rd edition in 2025 paired the fireworks shows with a Student Drawing Contest, a Photo Contest and an AI Generative Art Contest, drawing 2,635 combined entries from 1,567 participants and awarding 104 prizes.
Nam Van Lake, the artificial waterway carved out of reclaimed land on the southern edge of the Macao Peninsula, spends most evenings of the year as a quiet backdrop for evening walks and skyline views.
