Anosy Cultural Festival in Tolanaro
The Mila Soa Festival is a July celebration of Tolanaro's (Fort Dauphin's) culture, held in Madagascar's southeastern Anosy region. The event brings together local music, dance and food, reflecting the strong ties the Antanosy people maintain to ancestral customs, set against a backdrop of French colonial-era heritage sites such as Fort-Flacourt and the Anosy museum.
Tolanaro, better known internationally as Fort Dauphin, sits on Madagascar's southeastern coast in the Anosy region, a place where two distinct historical threads run through daily life: the ancestral customs of the Antanosy people and the visible legacy of French colonial settlement.
