Johor Bahru Arts Festival in Johor Bahru
The Johor Bahru Arts Festival, running since 2004, is Malaysia's longest-running multi-disciplinary arts festival, held each November across the city's historic and contemporary venues. Organized by the Johor Society for the Performing Arts, it spans music, dance, theatre, comedy, film and visual arts, using sites such as the historic Sultan Ibrahim Building alongside galleries and public spaces to connect local identity with international artistic exchange.
Johor Bahru sits at Malaysia's southern tip, directly across the causeway from Singapore, a position that has long shaped it as a border city balancing local Johor identity against the pull of a much larger neighboring metropolis.
