Johor Chingay Parade in Johor Bahru

The Johor Chingay Parade, also called the Parade of the Gods, is a Chinese New Year season procession held by the Johor Ancient Temple in Johor Bahru since the 1870s, carrying statues of five deities from the temple's five founding dialect clans through the city streets. Held annually on the twentieth to twenty-third day of the first lunar month, it draws crowds reported in the hundreds of thousands.

The Johor Chingay Parade is organized annually by the Johor Ancient Temple, or Johor Bahru Old Chinese Temple, a landmark built to unite the city's five founding Chinese dialect clans: Teochew, Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese, and Hainan.
