Victory Day Maldives Celebrations in Male
Victory Day, or Nasruge Dhuvas, commemorates the defeat of the 1988 coup attempt against President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, when Indian troops arrived within hours under Operation Cactus to overpower the armed mercenaries who had seized Male. Observed on the fixed date of 3 November, the day features a presidential address, flag hoisting, honors ceremonies, and military displays.
