Bamako Encounters (Rencontres de Bamako) is Africas first and largest photography biennial, held in Bamako since 1994 and showcasing contemporary African and diaspora photography and video art across venues throughout the city. The 14th edition, running November 2024 to January 2025, marked the biennials 30th anniversary under the theme KUMA, the Speech, the Silence and the Noise. The 15th edition is scheduled for November 2026 to January 2027 under the theme REFABULATION(S).

Bamako Encounters, known formally as the Rencontres de Bamako, holds a claim few African cultural institutions can make: it is the continents first and largest photography biennial, running in Bamako since 1994.
