Festival Bama Art in Bamako
Bama Art+, often called Festival Bama Art, is a monthly music and culture festival in Bamako organized by Africa Scene under founder Abou Djittey. Traditionally staged the first weekend of each month on the banks of the Niger River or at Place du Cinquantenaire, it pairs young Malian artists with established names such as Habib Koite, Tiken Jah Fakoly and Songhoy Blues, and has expanded into a touring format, Bama Art Tour, reaching cities like Kayes.
Bama Art+, known to many simply as Festival Bama Art, is unusual among Malis cultural festivals for its frequency: rather than arriving once a year, it returns on the first weekend of nearly every month, staged either on the banks of the Niger River or at Place du Cinquantenaire in Bamako.
