Thaipoosam Cavadee is a Tamil Hindu festival held across Mauritius, typically in January or February, honouring Lord Murugan through acts of physical devotion including body piercing and the carrying of ornate arch-shaped cavadees. After ten days of fasting, devotees walk barefoot to temples, with the largest gathering at Kovil Montagne, the Sri Siva Subramanya Thirukovil.

Each year, in the Tamil month of Thai, temples across Mauritius fill with a specific, visually striking form of Hindu devotion known as Thaipoosam Cavadee.
