Porlwi by Light in Port Louis
Porlwi by Light is a cultural festival that transforms central Port Louis after dark with light installations, street art, music and public performances, part of a wider push to bring evening cultural life back into Mauritius's capital. Held in recent years around the end-of-year period, it draws residents and visitors into the city's streets and historic core after typical business hours.
By day, Port Louis functions much like many small capital cities built around colonial-era commerce: a dense core of offices, government buildings, markets and shops that largely empties out once the working day ends.
