Feria Nacional Zacatecas in Zacatecas
Feria Nacional de Zacatecas, or FENAZA, is one of Mexico's most important national fairs, held annually September 5-21 near the city of Zacatecas. Its roots trace to the late 16th century as an observance honoring the Virgin Mary on September 8, with religious ceremonies continuing at the historic La Bufa chapel, while the modern fairgrounds, built in 1975, host music, dancing, fire shows, traditional food, handicraft markets, and mechanical rides.
Long before Zacatecas built dedicated fairgrounds for its national fair, the city was already marking early September with religious observance.
