The story

Lumea Copilariei Festival in Chisinau

Lumea Copilariei, or World of Childhood, is a free family festival spread across several Chisinau locations, including Cathedral Square, Columna Street and Alunelul Park. Running May 30 through June 1 in 2026, it fills the city with painting workshops, face painting, photo zones, contests, sports activities and concerts by artists such as Iuliana Beregoi and Kamelia Melnic, alongside creative workshops built for children.

Every year as spring turns into summer, Chisinau reserves a stretch of its most recognizable public spaces for its youngest residents.

What is special

The part that makes it specific.

01

The place changes

What distinguishes Lumea Copilariei is its reach across the city rather than confinement to a single venue, letting families encounter activities at Cathedral Square, along Columna Street and inside Alunelul Park without paying admission anywhere

02

The mystery stays covered

Spanning three full days lets the program build variety day to day, mixing hands-on creative sessions like painting and face painting with structured entertainment such as photo zones, themed contests and organized sports

03

The city starts moving

Booking recognizable Moldovan performers, including Iuliana Beregoi and Kamelia Melnic, for the concert portions gives the festival a professional headline element that pure playground events typically lack

04

The water draws everyone in

Because everything is free and centrally located, the festival functions as an accessible entry point into Chisinau's cultural calendar for families who might not otherwise attend ticketed events
