Balciul Olarilor Iurceni in Iurceni
Balciul Olarilor, or the Potters' Fair, is a pottery festival held in Iurceni commune, Nisporeni district, first organized in 1988 by ethnographer and folklorist Tudor Colac. The 2024 edition marked its 34th to 35th iteration, run jointly with the Nisporeni District Council. Dozens of ceramic craftsmen take part, offering hands-on workshops and a folkloric program built around traditional hand-processed clay techniques.
Balciul Olarilor, the Potters' Fair, has quietly become one of Moldova's longest-running craft festivals, with an origin story that ties it to a single founding figure.
