Sagsai Eagle Festival in Sagsai/Bayan-Olgii

Held each September in Sagsai village, this is the second-largest of Bayan-Olgii's eagle festivals. Berkutchi, eagle hunters, parade in hand-stitched traditional attire before competing in obedience and agility trials, releasing their birds from mountain perches to test how quickly they return, a practice preserved by Kazakh families who settled in the Altai Mountains.
