The Herceg Novi Film Festival, also known as the Montenegro Film Festival, has run for more than three decades and ranks as the country's most significant film event and one of Southeast Europe's leading festivals. Its 2026 edition, the 39th, runs August 22 to 28, featuring an international competition of regional feature, documentary and student films alongside screenings at the historic Kanli Kula and Forte Mare fortresses.

Herceg Novi, a town built into the terraced hillsides above the Bay of Kotor, has hosted its film festival for more than three decades, long enough for the event to become widely regarded as the most significant film festival in Montenegro and one of the leading festivals in Southeast Europe.
