Meetings Under the Old Olive in Mirovica
Meetings Under the Old Olive is an international festival of children's creativity held over several days each November beneath Mirovica's roughly 2,000-year-old olive tree, running since 1987. Children present literature and art built around the theme Olive, Peace, Friendship, and the village's name, derived from the Montenegrin word for peace, mir, frames the festival's central idea. The gathering closes with a symbolic wreath of olive branches thrown into the sea.
In the village of Mirovica, on Montenegro's coast, stands an olive tree estimated to be roughly 2,000 years old, a living witness to more than two millennia of the region's history under successive empires, kingdoms and states.
