African Book Festival Marrakech in Marrakech
The Festival du Livre Africain de Marrakech, known as FLAM, gathers African writers, thinkers and intellectuals in the heart of Marrakech's medina. Founded by Mahi Binebine, Fatimata Wane-Sagna, Hanane Essaydi and Younes Ajarrai, the free festival runs April 23-25, 2026 for its 4th edition under the theme Imagining Other Possibilities. Past editions have drawn roughly 40 participants from 25 countries and thousands of attendees.
The Festival du Livre Africain de Marrakech, widely known by its acronym FLAM, emerged from a shared conviction among its four founders that African literature deserved a major public platform on the continent itself.
