FITI - Festival Internacional de Teatro de Inverno in Maputo
FITI, the Festival Internacional de Teatro de Inverno, is Mozambique's longest-running cultural event and the only one bringing together theatre groups and companies annually, organized by the Associação Cultural Girassol. Held over roughly two weeks each May and June, recent editions running from late May into early June, the festival opens at the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center in Maputo before spreading into venues across different neighborhoods, with international participation from South Africa, Brazil, Portugal, Angola and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Festival Internacional de Teatro de Inverno, universally known by its acronym FITI, holds a specific distinction within Mozambique's cultural calendar as the country's longest-running cultural movement and its only annual event dedicated to bringing theatre groups and companies together.
