Kugoma - Festival de Cinema in Maputo

Kugoma, formally the Kugoma Mozambique Cinema Forum, is a long-running film festival that reached its 15th edition in August 2025, co-produced by the Association of Friends of the Cinema Museum in Mozambique, Max Film Creative and ZOOM, with the Franco-Mozambican Cultural Center and the Scala Cinema Theatre. Over roughly six days the festival screens more than 50 films across 16 sessions, with a parallel programme in Beira and the Kugoma Awards honoring new PALOP talent.

Mozambique's film culture, shaped by a distinctive post-independence tradition of state-supported cinema in the years following 1975, finds one of its most enduring showcases in Kugoma, formally the Kugoma Mozambique Cinema Forum, which reached its 15th edition in August 2025.
