Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda Festival in Bago

The Shwe Maw Daw Pagoda Festival is a thirteen-day Buddhist celebration in Bago, running from the eighth waxing day to the fifth waning day of Tagu, roughly late March into early April. It centers on the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, the tallest stupa in the world at 125 meters and Bago Division's most prominent pilgrimage site. Dance and theatre troupes representing many of Myanmar's ethnic communities perform for crowds of devotees and festival agents.
