The Shwe Myitzu Pagoda Festival is an eight-day Buddhist celebration, from the eighth waxing day to the full moon of Tabaung, roughly March, at a Konbaung-era pagoda sited on an island in Indawgyi Lake, Myanmar's largest natural lake, in Kachin State. During the festival sandbanks emerge to form a walkable path to the pagoda, one bank believed locally to be reserved for spirits, drawing more than one hundred thousand pilgrims.
