Manuha Pagoda Festival in Myinkaba

The Manuha Pagoda Festival is a two-day celebration at Myinkaba village near Bagan, beginning the day before the full moon of Tawthalin, around September. It commemorates King Manuha, the captured Mon ruler of Thaton who was brought to Bagan as a prisoner in the eleventh century and built the temple to express both his devotion and his sense of confinement. Villagers parade offerings, share food and dance into the evening.
