Barahachhetra Mela in Barahachhetra

Barahachhetra Mela is the recurring pilgrimage gathering at Barahakshetra, one of Nepal's oldest shrines, located at the confluence of the Koka and Koshi rivers in Sunsari District. Pilgrims converge especially on Kartik Purnima and Makar Sankranti, with a larger Kumbha Mela held every twelve years.

Five kilometers northwest of Dharan, at the point where the Koka and Koshi rivers meet in Nepal's Sunsari District, stands a pilgrimage site old enough to be named directly in some of Hinduism's foundational texts.
