Gaura Parba in Doti/Dadeldhura/Far West
Gaura Parva is a Hindu festival celebrated across Nepal's Sudurpashchim and parts of Karnali Province, including Doti and Dadeldhura districts, commemorating the marriage of the goddess Gauri, or Parvati, to Shiva. Its date is set annually by an official astrological committee, generally in August or September.
Gaura Parva, also known in the Kumaon region of India as Saton-Athon because its main celebrations fall on the seventh and eighth days of the festival period, commemorates the wedding of the goddess Gauri, an embodiment of Parvati, to the god Shiva.
