Janakpur Holi in Janakpur
Janakpur Holi, known locally as Fagu Purnima, is the Terai region's version of the festival of colors, timed to the completion of the Mithila Madhyamik Parikrama, a fifteen-day, roughly 120-kilometer pilgrimage circuit linking Janakpur with Ram-Janaki sites across the Nepal-India border. The color-throwing begins only once the circuit and its Ram-Janaki Dola return to the Janaki Mandir.
In most of Nepal, Holi is a single, loosely timed day of color-throwing tied to the full moon of Falgun.
